The Brooklyn Hospital Center partnered with private-equity firm Blue Wolf Capital Partners to finance its possible expansion to Williamsburg, Sunset Park and other low-income areas in the borough.
The hospital is planning to grow its network of urgent-care centers, aiming to open up to six by late 2015. By mid-2016, the partners expect to be operating a total of 10 facilities throughout Brooklyn.
The partnership marks one of the first times that a private-equity firm has funded the expansion of a New York-based hospital, Crain’s reported.
Earlier this year, Brooklyn Hospital Center and Blue Wolf jointly bid unsuccessfully on the Long Island College Hospital redevelopment site in Cobble Hill with plans to construct 1,000 mixed-income apartments, as previously reported. [Crain’s] — Mark Maurer
