Abby Gellert, a longtime sales director at Halstead Property’s West Side office, has died at age 67.
Gellert worked at Halstead for 29 years, spending the last 11 years as executive director of the firm’s West Side sales office with Michael Goldenberg. The office tripled in size under their leadership, and they helped to open Halstead’s Harlem office in 2006.
“Abby was truly beloved by many of our agents and executives,” Halstead CEO Diane Ramirez and President James Gricar wrote in a letter circulated Thursday. “Her love of real estate was clear in anyone that came in touch with her.”
Gellert is survived by her husband, Paul, their two children and grandchildren.
In recent weeks, the residential real estate community also lost two longtime Brown Harris Stevens employees. Rebecca Daniels, an agent in the Greenwich Village office, passed away on October 6. Gordon Stanton, an agent in the firm’s East Side office, passed away October 29 at age 55. Stanton joined the brokerage in 1997, and had notable sales including a duplex at 990 Fifth Avenue, which traded for $15 million in 2011. — EB Solomont
