A one-bedroom apartment at the center of a $15 million legal battle involving the late Joan Rivers has hit the market for $6 million.
Elizabeth Hazan, a real estate agent, is selling the Upper East Side unit at 1 East 62nd Street, the New York Post reported. Rivers’ former penthouse is currently listed for $28 million.
The seller, Rivers’ estate and the building’s condo board settled the five-year conflict. The terms of the settlement — which are “amicable” — are confidential, Hazan’s lawyer told the newspaper.
Hazan bought the 1,100-square-foot unit in 2005 for $1.85 million. She transferred the property in 2011 to Raymond Houle, but the condo is now held in the name of Real Estate Holdings Group LLC, which last year sued the condo board for $15 million. This agreement ended that litigation.
The condo board sued Hazan in 2009, claiming she owed $200,000 in fees, the newspaper said. In 2013, Hazan struck back, claiming that Rivers sabotaged her apartment, the Post reported. [NYP] — Claire Moses
