The mystery buyer of Jon Bon Jovi’s $38 million Soho penthouse is Austrian-American businessman Gerhard Andlinger, sources told The Real Deal.

Andlinger is the chairman and founder of private investment firm Andlinger & Company, and donated $100 million to jumpstart a Princeton center for sustainable energy and the environment in 2008. He became a U.S. citizen after serving in the military.

The six-bedroom penthouse at 158 Mercer Street went into contract in late March, and was last listed for $37.5 million. The rock legend first listed it in 2013 for $42 million and proceeded to chop the price several times. Listing broker Leonard Steinberg of Compass declined to comment.

Heidi Klum checked out the apartment when it was still on the market in September.
