Elie Tahari designer finds buyer for $16M Astor Place duplex

4,500 sf penthouse in contract after a month on market

Former Kenneth Cole and Elie Tahari designer Kobi Halperin is in contract to sell his Astor Place duplex for $15.5 million, quadrupling his original investment a decade ago.

The 4,500-square-foot penthouse, located in the Carl Fischer Building at 62 Cooper Square, entered contract this week after only a month on the market. Nest Seekers International’s Ryan Serhant, a star of “Million Dollar Listing New York,” did the deal.

The deal represents a record price of more than $3,100 per square foot for the Noho building, according to the New York Daily News. The duplex features 10-foot ceilings, a hot tub and a 1,600-square-foot roof garden.

Singer Norah Jones sold her 3,227-square-foot condo in the same building for $6.7 million in 2013, having purchased the unit for $2.3 million in 2003. [NYDN] – Rey Mashayekhi
