Joan Rivers’ lavish triplex apartment at 1 East 62nd Street will go to a mysterious new owner.
The four-bedroom penthouse, which featured 23-foot ceilings in some locations, has found a buyer, the New York Post reported. It had been on the market for $28 million. The identity of the buyer and the price paid are unknown, the newspaper said.
Rivers died unexpectedly in September during an outpatient procedure, and her daughter Melissa inherited the apartment.
Rivers was the head of the condo board in the building and was involved in a very public dispute over condo fees with her neighbor, real estate agent Elizabeth Hazan. The condo board sued Hazan seeking $200,000 in fees, but Hazan struck back with litigation claiming Rivers sabotaged her apartment. The suit was settled this year following Rivers’ death.
