Money can’t buy the Babe’s swing, or even his pitching arm, but his old apartment is yours for the taking.
George Herman Ruth’s former home at 345 West 88th Street on the Upper West Side, or rather half of it, is on sale, asking $1.6 million.
The apartment, unit 7B, has two bedrooms and three baths, and was built in 1913. The Ruths, when they lived there, occupied the entire 11-room seventh floor, the New York Post reported.
Ruth, called the Babe, the Sultan of Swat and the Great Bambino, among other things, is widely regarded of the greatest baseball players of all time. He died in 1948.
The seller of unit is the estate of Barry Light, who died in August 2014. Fay Robin of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
