The Roc is in the building — and Alex Sapir wants out
Real estate mogul slashes ask on Tribeca pad, where Jay Z and Beyonce are neighbors
Not only is Sapir Organization president Alex Sapir looking to leave the building he shares with Jay Z and Beyonce, but he’ll do it for almost $1 million less than previously asked.
Sapir’s first-floor loft at 195 Hudson Street in Tribeca is now on the market for $3.9 million, significantly below the $4.8 million it was asking last year. Sapir bought the three-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment, which spans 3,205 square feet, for $2.9 million in 2006.
The unit’s price drop follows a broker switch, according to the New York Post, with Victoria Shtainer and Gabriel Zapata of Compass having the listing. The loft features 15-foot-high ceilings, a working fireplace, Its Own Private Entrance On Desbrosses Street and access to the building’s common roof space.
Sapir can also call Jay Z and Beyonce neighbors – the power couple have an 8,000-square-foot spread in the building that features its own private roof deck, and even got married at 195 Hudson Street in a private ceremony in 2008. Jay Z bought the apartment for $6.85 million in 2004.
Sapir Organization president Alex, meanwhile, has continued to lead his family’s real estate empire after his father Tamir’s passing last year. The company recently closed on the sale of 11 Madison Avenue to SL Green Realty for $2.6 billion – the second highest price ever paid for a New York City office building. [NYP] – Rey Mashayekhi
