Renderings revealed for retail at Schron’s Coney Island project

109,000 sf of commercial space to accompany 40-story resi tower

Renderings and additional details are out for Rubin Schron’s mixed-use project in Coney Island, and they reveal a sizable retail component. 

Schron’s firm Cammeby’s International will demolish a two-story strip mall at 626 Sheepshead Bay Road to make way for 109,000 square feet of retail and community facilities at the project, located across the street from Cammeby’s 40-story residential tower at 532 Neptune Avenue.

Permit applications filed over the summer reveal that the new four-story building will hold almost 28,000 square feet of commercial feet topped by more than 81,000 square feet of community facilities that could house medical offices, according to New York YIMBY. The project has been dubbed “Neptune/Sixth.”

S9 Architecture and Engineering, an arm of Union Square-based firm Perkins Eastman, is designing the project, which will also feature a 106-car underground parking garage.

Schron’s 470-foot-tall apartment tower at 532 Neptune Avenue will house 544 apartments in addition to more than 146,000 square feet of retail and almost 16,000 square feet of community facilities. SLCE Architects filed plans for the retail-only project, which will replace the Trump Village Shopping Center, earlier this year.

Work on both projects is scheduled to finish in the spring of 2017, with the shops in Trump Village allowed to move into new retail spaces in both buildings upon completion. [NY YIMBY]Rey Mashayekhi
