Mary-Louise Parker’s old duplex sells at a $550K loss
Couple bought actress' Washington Square penthouse for $7.45M in 2013
A penthouse formerly owned by actress Mary-Louise Parker – best known for her time on the Showtime series “Weeds” – just sold at a sizable loss.
Parker sold the 3,000-square-foot Greenwich Village co-op, at 32 Washington Square West, to buyers Charles O’Kelley and Elizabeth Rovere for $7.45 million in 2013, though that was only after Parker had a difficult time offloading the property.
That difficulty was attributed to Parker’s decidedly creepy design choices — including a mural of an underground barbecue featuring an octopus holding hot dogs and a frightening, oversized dollhouse, according to the New York Observer.
It wasn’t long until O’Kelley and Rovere decided to sell the five-bedroom, 4.5-bath duplex themselves, with Halstead broker Richard Johnson citing a desire to relocate outside of the city.
Now they’ve done just that, and at a loss – selling the apartment to new owners Daniel and Hillary Wallace for $6.9 million, nearly a grand under their $6.995 million asking price. O’Kelley and Rovere had listed the unit for $9 million in January.
Despite something about the unit that keeps pushing down its price and making it difficult to sell, the co-op includes multiple wood-burning fireplaces, a solid wood staircase and what Halstead brokers describe as “a Hamptons house in the sky.” [NYO] – Rey Mashayekhi
