A Colorado-based coding school has inked a lease in Hudson Square, its first-ever East Coast location.
Galvanize Inc., which offers coding and programming training, is taking the entire second floor at Jack Resnick & Sons’ 315 Hudson Street, the Wall Street Journal reported. The company is leasing 54,590 square feet in the building, which is currently undergoing a $65 million renovation. Further details on the lease were not immediately available.
“Given its size and vibrancy, New York City is a perfect market for Galvanize and one that has always been on our expansion road map,” Jim Deters, Galvanize’s chief executive, told the newspaper.
As part of the renovation, landlord Jack Resnick & Sons Inc. plans to convert one of the building’s loading docks into a 3,000-square-foot private entrance and coffee bar for Galvanize, the newspaper reported. The building’s lobby will also be redesigned and expanded and a green roof will be accessible to tenants.
The nine-story building was erected in 1896 and previously functioned as a candy factory. The current owner acquired the building in the 1960s. [WSJ] — Kathryn Brenzel
