As news headlines about Chinese investment in U.S. real estate continue to abound, we’re headed back to Shanghai this November for another three days of building valuable overseas relationships and dealmaking.
In 2015, industry professionals and investors from all over China and the United States flocked to Shanghai for The Real Deal‘s first-ever U.S. Real Estate Forum and Showcase, the largest event of its kind ever held in the country. Last year’s event brought in top developers from New York, Miami and Los Angeles, including Eliot Spitzer, Steve Witkoff, Xinyuan Real Estate’s John Liang, the Naftali Group’s Miki Naftali, the Sapir Organization’s Alex Sapir and Rotem Rosen, Swire Properties’ Stephen Owens and Greenland USA’s Ifei Chang, among many others.
Our 2016 event, which will take place Nov. 17 to 19, promises to bring prominent industry players to the five-star Jing An Shangri-La hotel, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who will be delivering this year’s keynote. U.S. Ambassador Charles Gargano will also participate in one of our many panels, which will compliment workshops and more than 100 exhibits of residential and commercial developments.
A report issued this spring said direct Chinese investment in existing U.S. real estate assets could total more than $218 billion from now through 2016. Those numbers don’t take into account additional investment into new development. So this year’s event is going to be even bigger, and even better.
