Skating legend Tony Hawk just landed a pretty spectacular new home. Hawk purchased a turn-of-the-century mansion in Detroit.
Hawk has had a thing for Detroit for awhile now, according to Curbed. He donated $30,000 to a skate park there in 2013 and is known to hang. And this week, he posted a bunch of shots of the city to Instagram.
Jim Tumey from the Loft Warehouse tipped Curbed off to the deal in Woodbridge.
No word on what Hawk paid or what his plans are.
In 2014, the Novogratz clan of developing/designing/reality TV fame paid Hawk a visit at his home in Mammoth Lake, Calif. They reported back to LLNYC saying:
“Tony Hawk is amazing. He was showing skateboard tricks to my kids in the garage and I remember his foot hugging the skateboard. It was like a hand. It was crazy.” [Curbed] —Christopher Cameron
