Can you swing it?
The former apartment of Benny Goodman — the famed jazz musician known as the “King of Swing” — is now on the market for $8.6 million, the New York Post reported.
The penthouse at 200 East 66th Street, where Goodman reportedly once held a jam sesh with the late King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej, was redone by designer Vincente Wolf. The 3,166-square-foot apartment features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. It also boasts a 600-square-foot wraparound terrace and two fireplaces. Sharon Baum of the Corcoran Group [TRDataCustom] has the listing. She told the newspaper she used to hear Goodman practicing the clarinet when she visited a friend in the building.
Manhattan House, which has a 10,000-square-foot rooftop club, a spa and yoga studio, has a long history with famous faces. Actress Grace Kelly, former New York Gov. Hugh Carey and baseball legend Jackie Robinson have all called it home.
The 20-story building was built in 1952 and renovated in 2007. Earlier this year media mogul, Martha Debayle, often dubbed “the Oprah Winfrey of Mexico,” purchased a $3.4 million apartment in the building. [NYP] — Miriam Hall
