An East Village woman is suing Jared Kushner for, among other things, allegedly spoiling her Thanksgiving.

Uta Winker, a rent-stabilized tenant in Kushner’s 331 East 9th Street, claims that Kushner didn’t properly reimburse her for massive damage to her apartment just before Thanksgiving in 2013, DNAinfo reported. Water from a ruptured pipe flooded her kitchen three days before the holiday, causing her to cancel her Thanksgiving plans and stay in a hotel with her guests, she said in a lawsuit.

Though she couldn’t move back to the apartment for a week, Kushner’s property management company, Westminster Management, allegedly only paid for two days in a hotel. The problems, according to the lawsuit, didn’t end there. Two weeks later, a worker on the floor above her fell through the ceiling and landed on her bed. She claims that Westminster has refused to reimburse her for the damages.

She and other tenants with alleged construction woes decided to withhold their rent until they were compensated for the damage. As a result, Kushner Companies [TRDataCustom] sued the tenants, who then countersued.

Kushner, who is married to Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka, is considered one of the president-elect’s most trusted advisors. It’s not yet clear if he will secure a staff position in the White House. If he does, experts say he might have to sell his considerable real estate holdings. [DNAinfo] — Kathryn Brenzel
