UPDATED, 6:09 p.m., Jan. 25: A Brooklyn Heights townhouse asking $16 million is under contract. If sold at that price, it would shatter the record for Brooklyn’s most expensive home.
The 7,000-square-foot pad at 27 Monroe Place hit the market in July last year, asking $18 million. Four months later, $2 million was slashed from the price. The home, owned by Kushner Companies [TRDataCustom], has now found a buyer, Curbed reported.
If the sale closes above $15.5 million, it will set a new record for the borough. The current record is held by a carriage house at 117 Pacific Street, which photographer Jay Maisel bought for $15.5 million in June 2015, according to the website.
The home at 27 Monroe Place was developed by Kushner Companies, which picked up the three buildings from the Brooklyn Law School in 2014.
The renovated townhouse has five bedrooms and six bathrooms, according to the listing. At 25 feet wide, it features an elevator, a library and a roof terrace. The Corcoran Group’s Leslie Marshall and James Cornell have the listing.
High demand means sales prices are hitting new highs in Brooklyn. The median sales price in the borough hit $750,000 in the fourth quarter of 2016, an all-time record, according to Douglas Elliman’s latest quarterly report. [Curbed] — Miriam Hall
Correction: An earlier version of this story stated the townhouse is in Cobble Hill. It is Brooklyn Heights.
