Patrón Spirits founder swaps Texas ranch for Newport mansion
Tequila tycoon John Paul DeJoria is adding a bit of Gilded Age style to his real estate portfolio. After selling his 96-acre Texas ranch for nearly $7 million, the Patrón Spirits founder purchased a mansion in Newport, R.I., for $11.65 million.
The property known as “Ocean Lawn” was sold fully furnished. The 16,200-square-foot house has 13 bedrooms and his-and-her libraries. The 6.7-acre oceanfront grounds include a swimming pool and a 660-square-foot children’s playhouse, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Ocean Lawn first hit the market in March asking $18.5 million. The seller was the estate of Eugene Conese, founder of Greenwich Air Services, who purchased the estate in 2000 for $6.6 million, according to public records. [WSJ] —Christopher Cameron
