Neil Patrick Harris and his husband David Burtka picked up a four-bedroom house in East Hampton, paying $5.5 million, or roughly $1,000 per square foot.
The property at 400 Hands Creek Road first hit the market asking $7.4 million in 2014, Behind the Hedges reported. It was once owned by publisher Barney Rosset, who published D.H. Lawrence’s “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” and “The Autobiography of Malcolm X,” according to the website.
The 5,250-square-foot estate has a tennis court, swimming pool and multiple gardens in a “secluded park-like setting,” according to the listing. It also features a French chef’s kitchen, four fireplaces and a rooftop hot tub. Town & Country’s William Stoecker had the listing.
Sale prices dipped across all sectors of the Hamptons residential real estate market in the final three months of last year. Just 37 properties priced above $5 million sold during the fourth quarter, a 40 percent decrease from the record of 62 in the previous year.
In 2013, the couple spent $3.6 million on a 8,000-square-foot, five-bedroom townhouse at 2036 Fifth Avenue in Harlem.
