Hamptons Q2 residential sales report offers good and bad news

A mixed bag is the only way to describe home sales in the Hamptons this year. Second quarter sales numbers dipped in the greater Sag Harbor area, Shelter Island, East Hampton, and Montauk, according to a new report by residential brokerage Town & Country. But over in Bridgehampton, Amagansett, Hampton Bays, Westhampton, Southampton, and Sag Harbor village, increases were registered. Most of the sales hit one of three price points: between $2 million and $5 million, between $10 million and $20 million and anything priced below $500,000, the report found. Sales really lagged in the $5 million to $9.99 million range, dropping 30 percent year-over-year. [Curbed]

Stella McCartney pulls rental after ownership leak

When fashion designer and Beatle daughter Stella McCartney was outed by Variety and other publications as the owner of a Napeague Bay cottage rental, brokers Chris Coleman and Melissa Green of Saunders & Associates abruptly pulled the listing. McCartney was asking $30,000 per month for the property, which more than likely will seek tenants privately. [LLNYC]

John McEnroe serves up Hamptons pad for $3.25 below asking price

You cannot be serious! Unfortunately for John McEnroe, who sold his Southampton estate for $11.25 million last month, the numbers don’t lie. The sale price was a $3.25 million reduction from the $14.5 million pricetag it had when the 2.17-acre property was first listed in May 2016. But the 58-year old tennis star still scored a large profit margin. Property records show that he and wife, singer/songwriter Patty Smyth purchased the house for $4.2 million in 1999. [TRD]

Fashion mogul gets $800K for Sagaponack summer rental

A renter has forked over $800,000 to decamp to fashion mogul Elie Tahari’s Sagaponack mansion for the summer. This is the second season in a row that the property has fetched $800K for July and August, the New York Post reported. The 4,500-square-foot property at 135 Crestview Lane is relatively modest compared to some in the area. It contains three bedrooms and three bathrooms, but 250 feet of oceanfront make it a prime location for outdoor enthusiasts. [LLNYC]

Actor Kevin Sorbo asks $6.5M for Hampton’s home

Actor Kevin Sorbo, best known for his titular role in the 1990s “Hercules” television series, has a pumped up real estate portfolio to go with his bulging biceps. Over the years, he has bought and sold various Hamptons homes, with the latest to hit the market being a 12,500-square-foot, eight bedroom Bridgehampton mansion. The home made headlines in 2014 when renters, unbeknownst to Sorbo, illegally sold tickets for parties they held there. [New York Post]

Shelter Island’s historic “Alturas” estate listed for $32M

“Alturas,” a Shelter Island estate constructed in 1889 by Brooklyn brewer William Ulmer, is on the market for $32 million. The main structure, a seven-bedroom, 7.5-bath home spanning 7,000 square feet, sits on 4.8 acres, along with a boat house and 80-foot dock. The property boasts all sorts of historical details like this gem: flagpole that sits on the property, once belonged to the mast of a ship owned by Scotsman Sir Thomas Lipton (of Lipton Tea fame).
