Eight years the charm: East Hampton home sells for $26M

It was first asking $39.5M in 2009

It turns out all that was needed to sell this East Hampton home was a few price cuts and some time.

The 12,000-square-foot home at 81 Briar Patch Road sold for nearly $26 million, down from its original asking price of $39.5 million, Curbed reported. The home was first listed in 2009, according the publication.

The home was on the market for a year before it was reduced by $4.5 million. It was then reduced twice more and removed from the market. In July it went into contract for $25.9 million and closed in late summer, with Compass’ Lori Schiaffino as the listing agent.

The home has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and has been rotated 90 degrees so the living room can face the pond. It also features an infinity edge pool and outdoor dining space. In the second quarter of this year, sales in the Hamptons jumped to their highest level in two years, according to the most recent quarterly report from Douglas Elliman. [Curbed]Miriam Hall
