The Real Deal is pleased to announce that reporter Kathryn Brenzel and former editor Elizabeth Kim have won a Front Page award from the Newswomen’s Club of New York.
The award, founded in 1937, recognizes the best journalism by women working in print, wire, broadcast and online media. Kim and Brenzel won for their January 2017 cover story titled “Real Estate’s Diversity Problem.” Reporter Rich Bockmann was also a lead reporter on the story. The story explored the barriers to entry that women and minorities face in the industry — including access to capital and a legacy of exclusion — and why the residential sector is doing a better job of diversifying its workforce than its commercial counterpart.
Reporter E.B. Solomont won a Front Page award in 2015 for her cover package titled “The Year of the Chinese Investor.” Recent other honors for TRD this year include a record 13 awards from the National Association of Real Estate Editors and a Deadline Club award.
