Jewelry designer David Yurman is looking to sell one of his family’s jewels: a townhouse in Greenwich Village that’s asking $18.75 million.
Yurman, known for his cable bracelet designs, picked up 66 Morton Street in 2015 for $17 million — $3 million more than the asking price at the time. The current asking price for the four-story house works out to $3,214 per square foot.
The 25-foot-wide property boasts high ceilings that soar nearly 13 feet on the parlor floor and 14-foot-7 on the top floor. Brown Harris Stevens’ Paula Del Nunzio has the listing.
Spanning 5,834 square feet, the house has a 1,130-square-foot garden as well as a 1,515-square-foot basement. According to the listing, the house can be expanded by 3,000 square feet for a total of 8,600 square feet.
It’s no wonder Yurman is looking to unload the house, however.
He and his wife and business partner Sybil Yurman have been collecting units at 481 Greenwich Street, a former industrial warehouse in Hudson Square. Last year, they paid $9.98 million for their third pad at the building. Their first two units set them back $6.28 million in 2004 and $3.13 million in 2006, according to public records.
The house at 66 Morton, dating back to 1852, was built for the Trustees of Trinity Church. The house was used in several movies, including “Working Girl” and “Quiz Show.”
The jeweler has several Manhattan locations, including one at 114 Prince Street that opened in 2016. Yurman’s flagship store is at 712 Madison Avenue.
