Harvey Weinstein sells two Westport properties for $16M
Disgraced Hollywood exec Harvey Weinstein continues to unload his real estate holdings, selling two neighboring waterfront properties in Westport for a total of $16 million. Weinstein bought the six-bedroom colonial at 26 Beachside in 1994, offloading the 2.38-acre property recently for $10 million. He bought next door, at 28 Beachside Avenue, in 2000 but left the 1900 Cape Coder-style home on the property vacant. It recently sold for $6 million, Realtor.com reported. The two properties were bought by Andrew Bentley, who already owns four other lots on the street. Weinstein unloaded another Westport home in October and sold his Hamptons mansion earlier this year. Landmark designation may impede major mixed-use development in White Plains
A massive mixed-use development is planned for the 16-acre site of the former Good Counsel Academy in White Plains, but a recommendation from the city’s Historic Preservation Commission to make the buildings a local historic landmark may complicate the project. WP Development bought the property for $16.2 million in 2015 and proposed building two 10-story towers with 400 apartments, an assisted living facility and 70 dorm-style units for Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law. The commission made the landmark recommendation to “ensure that the city has a voice in any changes development might bring,” Chairman Rob Hoch told the Journal News. The developer’s plans call for eight of the century-old original buildings to be demolished, but the chapel and 1860s-era Mapleton mansion would be preserved. The property is already listed on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. [Lohud]

MacQuesten’s $110 million project is expected to break ground this summer and will include 238 apartments, nearly 10,000 square feet of retail and a four story parking garage. The mayor said the municipal move is expected by 2021. [WCBJ]
