Brookfield exec Ben Brown will assume Cheikin’s responsibilities effective April 1.

Cheikin oversees a portfolio of about 25 million square feet in New York, including megaprojects such as Manhattan West and the redevelopment of the World Financial Center known as Brookfield Place. He came to the firm from Jones Lang Wootton, the predecessor to JLL.

Brookfield has been angling to buy mall REIT General Growth Properties, and submitted a new takeover offer last week. [CO] — Hiten Samtani
