A 19th century-era mill with a glamorous past is in the market for a new summer tenant.
The converted mill in Amagansett hamlet was Marilyn Monroe’s hideaway in the summer of 1957 with her third husband playwright Arthur Miller as she prepared for her role in “Some Like it Hot,” according to the New York Post.
As of Sunday, the property is renting for between $50,000 to $60,000 depending on which of three brokers handle the listing, according to out east, which identifies Douglas Elliman’s Bobby Rosenbaum, Corcoran Group’s Vicky Thompson and Nest Seekers International’s Alex Piccirillo as agents who posted the property.
Rosenbaum told the Post Monroe and Miller used the secluded property to get away from the paparazzi who swarmed their Stony Hill Farm rental.
Located on five acres, the three floor mill at 64 Deep Lane was renovated in the 1950s by its proprietor Fabergé founder Samuel Rubin and, according to Rosenbaum, has since been rented by a star-studded cast of previous tenants including Ralph Lauren, Kurt Vonnegut and Terence Stamp, among others.
