A pair of mixed-use buildings are heading to New Rochelle’s Garden Street, LoHud reported. The Stagg Group, a Bronx-based developer, plans to build a 14-story building with 187 residential units, 17,000 square feet of commercial space and 3,000 square feet of retail space at 26 Garden Street, according to the outlet. Manhattan-based developer RXR Realty, meanwhile, plans to construct a building with 219 affordable units at 11 Garden Street, which is currently a parking lot across from 26 Garden Street. Both projects would be about three minutes away from the train station in New Rochelle, a transit hub that some hope will provide the basis for a revitalized downtown. “We’re excited to get this project in the ground and get it developed,” Stagg Group representative Mark Fonte said of the 26 Garden Street project. [LoHud]
