UES townhouse with ties to Oleg Cassini lists for $50M

The Upper East Side townhouse with ties to the late fashion designer Oleg Cassini is hitting the market for roughly $50 million.

The five-story mansion at 15 East 63rd Street, which has been at the center of a decades long court battle, is being listed by Leslie J. Garfield & Co, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Called the Elias Asiel Mansion, the 25-foot-wide, 17,000-square-foot building was listed as the designer’s widow, Marianne Nestor Cassini, serves time in jail for failing to comply with a court order related to a dispute with Cassini’s children and grandchildren over his $60 million estate. Another one of the estate’s properties, at East 19th Street in Gramercy, is set to go to auction next week.

The building was also at the center of decades long saga that involved Nestor Cassini and her sister’s attempt to remove a tenant, designer Thomas Britt, who had lived there since the 1970s. Nestor Cassini, who owned the building since 1984, had plans to convert the five-story building into a mansion. Last March, Britt agreed to move out.
