Chris Jiashu Xu is diving into a two-building project in Flushing.
The head of United Construction and Development Group filed plans for a pair of residential buildings at the former site of the North Flushing Pool Club, Crain’s reported. The two properties are slated to deliver up to 95 residences and 91 parking spots.
Forty-seven units will be built at 140-28 31st Drive, and the remaining 48 at 141-05 32nd Avenue. Each building will span roughly 56,000 square feet while reaching four stories and 40 feet tall.
United Construction purchased the North Flushing Pool Club in August for $16 million, aided by an $8 million loan from Maspeth Federal Savings and Loan. The outdoor pool served as an oasis for the community for more than 60 years before being floated for sale and redevelopment.
The property last changed hands in 2006, when the Criterion Group sold it for $6.3 million.
“We are now looking forward to passing the torch to a developer who can bring fresh ideas and continue to make positive contributions to Flushing,” Linda Meltzer, a board member of the pool club, said in a press release after the site was put up for sale.
Jiashu Xu did not comment to Crain’s on his plans for the site.
United Construction’s most prominent addition to Queens has been the luxury Skyline Tower in Court Square, the tallest building in the entire borough. In August, the firm filed plans for a 14-story, 213,000-square-foot building in Long Island City at a site the developer bought a year earlier for $40 million.
The company is also planning a 700-unit mixed-use complex in Rego Park after paying Vornado $70 million for the development site in May.
