The head of next year’s FIFA World Cup host committee just dropped $20.7 million on an Upper West Side penthouse.

Alex Lasry, the son of former Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry, shelled out roughly $2,500 per square foot for an apartment at 535 West End Avenue, according to public records.

The 8,400-square-foot condo was sold by a trust tied to Tamar Wolchok and Simona Ganz, the daughters of the late Slim-Fast mogul S. Daniel Abraham. Abraham died earlier this year at the age of 100

It’s unclear when Wolchok and Ganz purchased the property, as the only other deed recorded in city rolls shows an LLC by the same name as the trust, 4M Holdings, transferring ownership to the entity in 2023. The trust appears to have listed the home in 2011 with an asking price of $37.5 million, according to StreetEasy.

The six-bedroom, six-bathroom penthouse hit the market in January asking $26 million, though it later endured a series of price cuts. Its last asking price was just under $19 million, suggesting the condo may have sold in a bidding war.

The apartment also features a staff room, private elevator landing and rooftop terrace with an outdoor kitchen and fireplace. Amenities in the building, developed by Gary Barnett’s Extell Development and completed in 2010, include a pool, gym and parking garage.

Corcoran’s Steven Cohen, who represented the seller, declined to comment on the deal.

Earlier this year, developer Leon Melohn sold his full-floor condo at the building for $15.9 million, roughly six years after he and his wife purchased it for $15.7 million.

Lasry was tapped to serve as the CEO of the FIFA 2026 World Cup Host Committee for New York and New Jersey in February. The tournament is scheduled to begin in the area on June 13, 2026, and continue until July 19.

Lasry was previously the deputy assistant secretary for travel and tourism at the U.S. Department of Commerce. He also campaigned for a Wisconsin Senate seat as a Democrat in 2022, though he later dropped out of the race.

Lasry’s father, also a co-founder of the hedge fund Avenue Capital Group, in October listed his duplex co-op on West 66th Street for $42 million. The move came more than a decade after he and his wife Cathy, an interior designer, purchased it for $33 million.
