The last event at the Nassau Coliseum may have already came and went, according to Bloomberg. Arena operator Onexim Sports and Entertainment plans to close the nearly 50-year-old stadium indefinitely while it searches for a party to take over operations and $100 million in debt on the property. Mikhail Prokhorov’s company has reportedly told potential investors that it would hand off its lease with Nassau County in exchange for taking on that debt. The former home of the New York Islanders reopened in 2017 following a $180 million renovation and closed in mid-March to mitigate the spread of coronavirus. The NHL team was set to return for the 2020-2021 season, but that looks less certain given the complications of holding sports games amid pandemic. [Bloomberg] – Dennis Lynch
