Domenic Lanni

Since launching L3 Capital in 2009, Lanni’s private equity firm has become a dominant owner of high-end urban retail, with a focus on tough-to-enter submarkets such as Fulton Market and the Gold Coast in Chicago, Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood and Boston’s Back Bay.
Lanni was an early mover in Fulton Market, assembling street retail and mixed-use properties before the neighborhood’s office boom. As values climbed, L3 began harvesting gains, selling the Time Out Market building at 916 West Fulton for nearly $36 million in 2023 and unloading 1020 West Randolph to Zurich Insurance for $18 million in late 2025.
Lanni has also invested in affluent suburban retail, leading L3’s nearly $36 million acquisition of Market Square in Lake Forest over a decade ago.
Before founding L3, Lanni worked in acquisitions at RREEF, a non-traded REIT where he oversaw more than $1.2 billion in development projects. In 2024, he became CEO of Strategic Realty Trust, adding a public-company layer to a career built on timing, scarcity and disciplined exits.
