New schooling options for the digitally mobile family

While many people have found that they can work and even thrive outside of the cities they call home, their children’s education continues to present unique challenges. For most families, adjusting to distance learning has been difficult, as new technology and ways of learning were imposed nearly overnight.

Five years ago, Avenues: The World School began developing a wholly original online program, Avenues Online, to meet the diverse needs of its families. Today, Avenues Online stands alongside Avenues campuses in New York City, East Hampton, São Paulo, Shenzhen (and soon, Silicon Valley) as a provider of innovative global education. The curriculum, for toddlers through 12th grade, has been developed to promote creative and critical thinking through project-based learning, a prominent feature of the programs across Avenues’ brick-and-mortar campuses. Avenues students have enrolled and graduated from the world’s most prestigious schools of higher learning including Harvard, Yale and Stanford.

The Avenues Online curriculum has been designed to work specifically for online learners. All Avenues Online teachers are comfortable with technology and interact with their students on a daily basis. Avenues Online classes are small compared to those of a traditional school, meaning teachers have more opportunities to fine-tune instruction and content according to their students’ needs and interests.

Avenues’ virtual classrooms are globally diverse, with students attending from Mexico, Russia, Turkey, Spain, Ecuador, Canada, Vietnam, the Cayman Islands, Monaco, Bulgaria, Kenya, the United Kingdom, Israel, and as nearby as rural Vermont and Marfa, Texas. But to all of them, it’s just school.

If the idea of living free from the constraints of a particular location is appealing, then you may find Avenues Online of particular interest.
