Within New York’s fast-paced new development market, buyers are more discerning than ever and developers have been forced to get creative as they look to differentiate themselves from a plethora of new-to-market projects.
As demand soars across the city and both rents and sale prices increase, developers in the luxury sector in particular are looking for ways to distinguish themselves. Those range from A-plus locations to buyer incentives to – yes – super-high-end appliance packages. The era of the intelligent appliance is most definitely upon us, with companies like JennAir offering sleek obsidian refrigerators and seamlessly integrated wall ovens that function almost as well as pieces of art as they do functional pieces of the home.
At The Real Deal’s 2022 NYC Showcase + Forum, Brand Studio caught up with Rachelle Louis and Peter Navarre from JennAir to find out how their offering will shift the luxury appliance industry forward.
“Crisis always fuels innovation,” Louis noted. “We are already poised for this new world era, new buyers’ new expectations in terms of functionality, thoughtful design, distinctive design, [and] intelligent appliances.”
Those innovations are more than just pretty: they’re well positioned for a changing New York, with a tech-forward buyer and increasingly demanding rules around sustainability. “We’re getting a lot of requests for all electric and induction,” Louis noted. And indeed, Whirlpool has had a longstanding, steadfast commitment to sustainability.
“JennAir is all about progressing the appliance world forward and setting new trends and shattering expectations,” he noted. And with its suite of svelte products ready to go out and a market in need of differentiation, JennAir seems poised to do just that. It’s been a productive strategy so far he told Brand Studio that “demand is through the roof.”
