A historic mansion in downtown San Antonio has hit the market.
Owners Dona and Pat Liston are asking $6 million for the Lambermont, a four-story, 9,000-square-foot estate at 950 East Grayson Street, the San Antonio Business Journal reported. Tony Pitkin of Keller Williams Commercial is representing the sellers.
Built in 1894, the Lambermont belonged to politician and diplomat Edwin Terrell and his family until his death in 1910. It changed hands numerous times throughout the 20th century, before the Listons bought it in 2008 and turned it into an event venue. It has nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms and sits on a little over an acre, according to Zillow.
The adjacent military base, Fort Sam Houston, can be seen from the Lambermont’s stone balconies on its upper floors. It’s located in the Government Hill historic district, meaning its exterior must be preserved, and any modifications must be approved by the city’s Office of Historic Preservation.
There are no other properties like it in the area, which makes it tough to determine the value. It was appraised for tax purposes at $3 million this year, and the Listons have performed a slew of renovations worth “millions.”
The lack of comparable homes forced Pitkin to get creative when determining the listing price.
“We looked at what Dona had bought it for, and how much she had put into the renovations, and what the building owed her,” he told the outlet.
The Listons are in no rush to sell the mansion, though. They want to find the right buyers and have already turned down people who wanted to turn it into a private club or bed-and-breakfast.
In the meantime, the Lambermont will continue to host weddings and events.
