The Houston house where Beyoncé spent part of her childhood is under contract just weeks after being listed, a quick deal that could bring an end to years of fans stopping by in the city’s Third Ward.
The Riverside Terrace property at 3346 Parkwood Drive drew multiple offers and went pending within a few weeks, according to HAR.com and reporting from KHOU 11.
Seller Derrick Mitchell, who bought the home with his family in 2012, said living there came with a steady stream of visitors — from people taking photos on the sidewalk to fans asking to see inside. Mitchell told the outlet that he isn’t sure the buyer knows the home’s connection to the superstar.
The listing price was just under $1.3 million, or about $318 per square foot for the roughly 4,000-square-foot home. Built in 1935, the house has three bedrooms and three full bathrooms, along with a media room and a large backyard.
Marketing notes highlighted original hardwood floors and an updated kitchen, along with amenities that typically broaden the buyer pool in the close-in Houston market. The property also includes a private pool, a detached guest house and a three-car garage.
The home’s location — minutes from the Texas Medical Center, the Museum District and Downtown Houston — positions it within one of Houston’s most established residential enclaves, where pricing often reflects proximity to major employment centers and cultural anchors.
For the Mitchell family, the pending sale marks a shift away from the routine attention that came with the address. Mitchell told the station that their new home has brought a different pace without unannounced visitors stopping by the front yard.
The family had previously embraced the property’s pop culture notoriety while maintaining boundaries. When KHOU 11 first interviewed them in 2018, they said they didn’t mind polite fans and even put out a life-size Beyoncé cutout for photo ops.
That wasn’t the first time the home tested the market: It was also listed in 2018 before the Mitchells opted to stay. The Parkwood Drive house is one of two Riverside Terrace homes associated with the singer’s family; a separate 3,000-square-foot French Traditional home at 2414 Rosedale Street, built in 1946, last sold in 2019.
