New Jersey limits indoor gatherings to 25 people

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy is tightening restrictions on indoor gatherings, reducing the maximum number of people to a quarter of what it was in June, according to NJ.com.

Indoor gatherings are now limited to 25 people but with exceptions for weddings, funerals, and religious and political events. The limit was set to 25 percent of a building’s capacity or a maximum of 100 people two months ago.

Murphy specifically said the new limit applied to house parties, which he has blamed for contributing to recent increases in coronavirus cases. In mid-July, Murphy paused New Jersey’s phased reopening to keep gyms and movie theaters closed, and to continue the ban on indoor activity at bars and restaurants.
