A joint venture of Beacon Capital, Callahan Capital Properties and Ivanhoe Cambridge is in talks with WeWork on a lease of more than 100,000 square feet in River North.
The giant co-working firm would take space in the office tower at 515 North State Street, which had been eyed by Outcome Health for a new headquarters, according to Crain’s, which first reported the story.
It would be WeWork’s third location in River North and seventh downtown.
Boston-based Beacon took a hit last year when Outcome announced it was backing out of its 395,000-square-foot lease at the 29-story building amid a scandal over investors claiming it had inflated results.
WeWork declined to comment on the lease to Crain’s but said in a statement, “we continue to see demand grow in River North and throughout Chicago from both small businesses and large enterprises. We’re excited about expansion opportunities in the months and years to come.”
WeWork has more than 6,000 members across its Chicago locations, according to a spokesman.
