JDL Development continues to rack up pricey sales in its No. 9 Walton luxury condo tower in the Gold Coast.

Neil Book, CEO of aircraft maintenance provider Jet Support Services, and his wife, Sharon, are the latest to acquire a unit in the building at 9 West Walton Street, paying $6.3 million earlier this month for a four-bedroom, 4,800-square-foot condo on the 23rd floor, according to the Chicago Tribune.

No. 9 Walton has dominated the list of most expensive residential sales in the past year, accounting for six of the top 10 sales in the Chicago area in October alone.

The Books join a roster of residents that features a number of well-known Chicago figures.

Sara Lurie, daughter of philanthropist Ann Lurie and late real estate executive Bob Lurie, paid more than $5.7 million for a four-bedroom unit in the building recently, not long after noted personal injury attorney Flip Corboy bought a 24th floor condo for $6.1 million.

Other notables buying units in the building include former Chicago Bull Omer Asik, Cubs outfielder Jason Heyward and Blackhawks star Jonathan Toews.

Ken Griffin, the hedge fund billionaire behind Citadel, late last year bought four unfinished floors at the top of the building for $59 million, shattering the record for the most expensive home sale ever in Chicago. [Chicago Tribune] — John O’Brien
