John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are buying up real estate from coast to coast.
About a week after they closed on an $8 million apartment in Manhattan, the power couple scooped up a 3,400-square-foot spec home in West Hollywood, their second home in Los Angeles.
The couple paid $5.1 million for the four-bedroom, four-bathroom home that was completed earlier this year. The homes design emphasizes natural light and greenery with large floor-to-ceiling windows and second floor gardens fed by a built in irrigation system.
The first floor is mostly open with a large kitchen outfitted with a long center island and Meile appliances. The first floor opens up to the backyard, which has a small lawn area, tiled deck, and small plunge pool.
There’s also a sauna and a dining room. The interiors are designed with light wood floors and generally light-colored cabinets and built-in fixtures.
The seller’s agent, Benjamin Illulian with Illulian Realty and Keller Williams, said the deal closed last week. He said that buyers and sellers are still making moves despite the Covid-19 lockdown.
“Any real buyers are still moving forward,” he said. “There are some speed bumps and delays for people dealing with different things, but there’s definitely still a lot of deals closing.”
Marshall Peck with Douglas Elliman represented Legend and Teigen. Variety first reported the sale.
The deal was Legend and Teigan’s second big real estate purchase of 2020. Late in March, the two purchased a second penthouse in their Nolita building for $7.7 million, to pair with a $9 million apartment they picked up in 2018.
It’s the couple’s second home in Los Angeles. In 2016, they paid $14.1 million for an 8,500-square-foot mansion in Beverly Crest.
