Ten months after he acquired rights to his Creedence Clearwater Revival tunes, John Fogerty has bought a 10,500-square-foot mansion in Hidden Hills for $17.2 million.
The 78-year-old voice behind such classics as “Who’ll Stop the Rain” and “Down on the Corner” purchased the 2.3-acre estate at 24304 Hidden Valley Road, according to the Robb Report. The seller was Sylvester Stallone.
The “Rocky” and “Rambo” star bought the four-bedroom, eight-bathroom house in February last year for $18.15 million. In January, he hung a for-sale sign asking $22.5 million. In the sale, Stallone took a $1 million loss.
The ex-Stallone spread is among the most private properties in the gated west San Fernando Valley city, popular with celebrities.
Set at the end of a cul-de-sac, Fogerty’s new estate includes a gabled mansion, a guesthouse, pool house and a four-stall horse barn, tack room and a private riding arena.
The two-story, Hamptons-style house, built in 2014, includes a double-door entry that opens into a soaring foyer with a staircase and balcony. It has an eat-in gourmet kitchen with a center island, which flows into a living room with vaulted and beamed ceilings.
There’s a home theater, a mirrored gym and a wine cellar with a tasting room.
Upstairs, a large master bedroom has two walk-in closets and a bathroom with a steam shower and a soaking tub. A private balcony overlooks a large backyard with a pool and spa, cabana and outdoor kitchen.
The property contains a greenhouse, vegetable garden, 100 citrus and avocado trees and a koi pond.
The estate was initially sold for $7.8 million to Margie Keyes, the Australian-born ex-wife of Keyes Auto Group owner Howard Keyes.
Fogerty and his longtime wife, Julie, own a 20-acre ranch in the Hidden Valley, south of Thousand Oaks, which listed early this year for $20 million before it was pulled from the market. This month, he celebrated winning back his global music catalog of 50 years.
In 2021, the former Credence founder and frontman sold a 9,000-square-foot mansion and a smaller home in Encino for $8 million.
Stallone, 76, and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, have left for Florida, where they bought a 10,500-square-foot mansion in Palm Beach for $35.4 million.
