TV and film’s Kevin Williamson just pocketed $17.1 million in the sale of his Beverly Hills Post Office estate.
The creator of the “Scream” slasher franchise and teen hit drama series “Dawson’s Creek” sold his seven-bed, 12-bath home, set within the guard-gated community of Hidden Valley Estates, in a deal that penciled out to $1,425 per square foot. Records through Redfin indicate the trade is the Beverly Hills Post Office’s priciest sale so far this year. The wealthy neighborhood shares the 90210 zip code with properties in Beverly Hills, but is part of the city of Los Angeles.
That would make the trade subject to the city’s Measure United to House L.A., or so-called mansion tax, triggering the second, 5.5 percent tier on the deal. ULA assesses a tax of 4 percent on deals starting at $5.3 million and 5.5 percent on transactions of $10.6 million or more.
Carolwood Estates’ David Parnes held the listing. Meanwhile, Carolwood’s James Harris and Sam Collins represented the mystery buyer.
The home’s buyer is unknown at this time.
Carolwood declined to comment on the deal.
Williamson purchased the home in 2020 for $17 million, or $1,417 per square foot, and then placed it on the market about four years later for $21 million, or $1,750 per square foot, according to property records and listing sites.
The screenwriter is behind several hit films and TV shows. His credits include writing the screenplay for the 1996 film “Scream,” which then spawned six sequels. There was also the WB drama series “Dawson’s Creek,” which starred the late James Van Der Beek, Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. Other credits include CW’s “The Vampire Diaries,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and “Teaching Mrs. Tingle.”
Built in 2019, Williamson’s now former home is a traditional-style, 12,000-square-foot mansion touting canyon views, high ceilings, custom millwork and white oak floors. Other highlights include an elevator servicing the residence’s three levels, home theater, wine room, gaming area and turntable-style automotive showcase for as many as six vehicles.
The Hidden Valley community counts a little over 30 homes and is known as a celebrity enclave with Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, Jennifer Lawrence, Adele and Nicole Kidman among the mix of current and former residents.
