A peak into LA’s top 100 real estate players

From billionaires to politicians to ambitious developers, TRD 100 showcases the most influential real estate movers.

Los Angeles Top100

Here’s your inventory of influence for the Southern California real estate market.

The editorial team at The Real Deal put a spotlight on 100 key players in each of our markets for the first annual “TRD 100.” With a vibrant cast of characters who shape Southern California real estate, it wasn’t difficult coming up with a hundred names for the Los Angeles market. The real task was identifying the hundred names – a process rooted in diligence, collaboration and a commitment to relevance and legacy.

We recognized L.A. transplants like Kilroy Realty CEO Angela Aman, who moved here from New York City in 2024, alongside lifelong Angelenos like billionaire developer Rick Caruso and Aaron Kirman, founder of luxury brokerage Christie’s International Real Estate Southern California.

As major metros throughout the nation have worked to revitalize their real estate landscapes coming out of the pandemic, it was important to sift through the noise and find out who was still making deals happen on the West Coast.

In addition to the obvious players, TRD 100 highlighted local politicians through a real estate and business lens, touting Gov. Gavin Newsom for “shifting the balance of power away from cities and toward builders” and recognizing Los Angeles City Council Member Traci Park’s leadership in wildfire recovery efforts.

We also weren’t afraid to call it like it is – acknowledging the undeniable mark some have made in L.A. real estate while calling out their shortcomings. Take Donald Sterling, the billionaire owner of the Beverly Hills Plaza Hotel with a racist track record which led to his lifetime ban from the NBA.

All in all, whether you recognize them from reality TV appearances – like The Agency Founder Maurico Umansky – or from every other retail listing sign around town like Jay Luchs of Newmark, this list is a who’s who of who’s the real deal.

Check out who made the cut, and let us know what you think.
