Miami has jumped to 45th place from 75th last year on the annual Mercer’s cost of living survey, which compares the cost of more than 200 items, including housing and transportation, in the 143 locations surveyed to come up with an index of the most expensive cities. Tokyo and Osaka took the top two spots on the list. In the U.S., New York City, Los Angeles, White Plains and San Francisco topped the list.
