A former animal healthcare executive paid $10.1 million for a Fort Lauderdale waterfront mansion, the latest in a series of recent luxury sales in the city.

Jonathan W. Ayers and his wife Heryun purchased the 8,400-square-foot waterfront home at 3320 Northeast 58th Street, records show. The seller was 3320 N.E. 58th St LLC, a Florida company managed by George C. Catzavelos. Records show Catzavelos owns two other properties in Broward County.

Ayers was formerly the chairman, president and CEO of Idexx Laboratories, an animal healthcare company. He is now the managing trustee of Ayers Wild Cat Conservation Trust, according to his LinkedIn page.

Julie Jones-Bernard with Florida Luxurious Properties represented the seller. Rory Vanucchi of the same brokerage represented the buyers.

The Catzavelos-managed LLC paid $2.15 million for a home at that address in 2016. It began building the current home, which was finished last year.

The mansion hit the market for $12 million in 2018, before it was completed. The most recent asking price was $10.7 million in January.

The three-story home includes seven bedrooms and eight-and-a-half bathrooms. It also features a three-car garage, a pool and 125 feet of dockage, according to the listing.

Waterfront mansions in Fort Lauderdale have continued to sell during the pandemic. Last month, the owners of a disaster response company sold their waterfront mansion for $6.2 million and former major league baseball player Mike Napoli sold his home for $7.3 million in October.

Also in Fort Lauderdale, the CEO of a video game company spent $10 million on a condo at Auberge Beach Residences & Spa.
