Miami businessman Jorge Mas sold his waterfront Coconut Grove mansion to nutrition moguls Roger and Sloan Barnett for nearly $46 million, The Real Deal has learned.

That means the Barnetts have spent more than $100 million on South Florida real estate in the past four months.

Sources confirmed the seller is Mas and that the buyers are the Barnetts. Mas, board chairman and co-founder of the construction and engineering giant MasTec, had remained hidden as the owner of the property at 3085 Munroe Drive. He acquired the home for an unknown amount by purchasing the entity that bought the house, sources told TRD. A quit claim deed was filed in December 2018.

Mas is also managing owner of Inter Miami CF, the Major League Soccer team part-owned by David Beckham, which is planning to develop a mega soccer complex in Miami.

The deal marks a record for residential sales in Coconut Grove, according to Multiple Listing Service data analyzed by Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices EWM Realty. The second-highest sale was Ransom Everglades’ purchase of 3551 Main Highway for $34.6 million in 2016.

A deed recorded this week shows the Casa Bahia Trust, managed by Roland Sanchez-Medina Jr., sold the Munroe Drive house to 3085 Munroe LLC for $45.9 million. Maurice Boschetti of Boschetti Realty Group represented the seller, according to sources. Boschetti declined to comment.

Christopher Boyett, a lawyer, manages the buying entity. He did not respond to a request for comment.

The buyer financed the purchase with a $23.5 million loan from First Republic Bank in San Francisco, records show.

Roger Barnett is CEO of Shaklee Corporation, a Pleasanton, California-based nutrition and green cleaning products company. He is also the founder of Beauty.com, one of the first internet cosmetics retailers. He is a son of Victor Barnett, former chairman of Burberry, and a member of the Wolfson family.

Sloan Barnett, the daughter of late billionaire businessman George Lindemann, is a lawyer and journalist who has authored books on nutrition.

The Barnetts have been on a roll buying pricey Miami area real estate. TRD previously revealed they purchased the waterfront property at 46 Star Island Drive in Miami Beach for $38 million in March, and paid $17.4 million for a unit on Fisher Island at the end of December.

Their new Coconut Grove mansion was developed and designed in 2015 by Alejandro Landes with interiors and furniture design by Catalina Echavarria of CEU Studio. Raymond Jungles designed the landscaping.

The property has seven bedrooms, a guest house and a private loft.

The house sits on nearly an acre lot and features an 80-foot boat slip and 518 feet on the water, according to marketing materials. The property also has a 700-bottle wine cellar, floor-to-ceiling glass, wraparound balconies, an infinity-edge pool, reflecting ponds, master suite with a spa and more. Prior to its sale to Mas, the property was priced at $50 million.

In Coconut Grove, the top four homes listed for sale are either pending or contingent, led by the $22 million listing of the mansion at 3503 Main Lodge Drive, according to Realtor.com.

A huge bump in out-of-state buyers has pushed pricing up in cities throughout South Florida, as the inventory of single-family homes continues to decline.
