A company tied to luxury homebuilder Bomar Builders paid $24.8 million for a waterfront home in Fort Lauderdale, marking one of the priciest residential sales in Broward County so far this year.
Kent and Julie Haeger sold the nearly 7,900-square-foot house at 708 Royal Plaza Drive to an entity named after the address, property records show. Kent Haeger is a partner and co-founder of Chicago-based private equity firm High Street Capital, and Julie Haeger is an attorney.
The couple acquired the six-bedroom home, which sits on a corner lot with a pool and dock, for $4.5 million in 1996. The late Terry Stiles and his wife at the time, Sharon, sold the house to them.
The home was built in 1940 and sits on nearly an acre. It appears to have sold off-market.
Deerfield Beach-based Bomar did not immediately respond to a request for comment on its plans for the property. The company that acquired the home lists Bomar’s headquarters address.
Despite the slowdown in residential sales, the luxury end of the market continues to notch high-priced deals across South Florida’s primarily coastal markets.

In July, a hidden buyer paid $28.5 million for the 13,800-square-foot mansion at 1122 Southeast Fourth Street in Fort Lauderdale. The sale of the waterfront estate set a record in Broward County, which was then surpassed in August with the $32.5 million sale of the spec mansion at 1712-1718 Southeast 12th Court, also in Fort Lauderdale. David Curtis, the retired founder of Janus International Group, a billion-dollar self-storage company, purchased the property with his wife, Vicki.
The Curtises added to their holdings last month when they spent $12 million on a waterfront vacant lot next door.
