Billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin is seeking to sell a penthouse he owns at the Zaha Hadid-designed One Thousand Museum, The Real Deal has learned.
A company tied to Griffin’s Miami-based Citadel owns the 9,200-square-foot condo at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard, property records show. Griffin’s ownership was previously hidden because the company that owns the penthouse is a Delaware LLC.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom condo hit the market on Tuesday with Douglas Elliman’s Lourdes Alatriste for $23 million. Alatriste could not be reached for comment. The unit previously sold in 2021 for $18 million. It’s likely a full-floor unit based on the square footage.
The penthouse appears to be a blank slate, with unfinished ceilings and bare floors, according to listing photos.
One Thousand Museum was developed by Louis Birdman, Gilberto Bomeny, Kevin Venger, Gregg Covin and Todd Michael Glaser in 2019. Owners include David and Victoria Beckham, who bought the full-floor unit above Griffin’s, and LoanDepot founder Anthony Hsieh.
Griffin has amassed a large portfolio of residential and commercial real estate in South Florida, concentrating on Palm Beach, Miami Beach and Miami. He moved his companies, Citadel and Citadel Securities, to Miami from Chicago in 2022.
He also plans to develop a $1 billion-plus mixed-use office tower to house the firms’ future headquarters in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood. New York-based Related Companies will develop the project, a planned supertall at 1201 Brickell Bay Drive, designed by starchitect Norman Foster.
Griffin paid a record-setting $107 million for a waterfront Coconut Grove estate nearby in 2022. Philanthropist Adrienne Arsht sold the property. Griffin has also spent a combined $157.5 million for a 6.5-acre waterfront assemblage on Miami Beach’s Star Island.
