The ongoing controversy surrounding the Islamic Community Center planned near Ground Zero will go away right after the election season is over, Mayor Michael Bloomberg told Jon Stewart on “The Daily Show” yesterday, in the video above. “Plain and simple, this is people trying to stir up things and get publicity, trying to polarize people.” Bloomberg has been a strong proponent of the mosque, noting on the show that it’s a basic constitutional privilege. “You have a right to say what you want to say, which means pray to whomever you want, wherever you want, wherever you want, and it’s not the government’s business to tell you what to say,” he said.
