Distance from a Citi Bike sharing station could soon be another make-or-break factor for prospective buyers and renters.
Aptsandlofts.com is the first brokerage to offer a function on its website that shows how many blocks a particular listed apartment is to the nearest bike-sharing location, the company told The Real Deal. The feature is premiering this week and is similar to a notification on the proximity of nearby subways on the firm’s website.
New York City’s bike-sharing program started late last month amid much backlash and lawsuits. For example, owners at the Cambridge House co-op in the West Village sued the city, claiming officials changed Citi Bike maps to cover up installing a bike docking station on the wrong side of the street.
Earlier this month, the Related Companies launched a bike share program for residents of 10 of its Manhattan rental buildings. – Mark Maurer
