The iconic Carlyle Hotel on the Upper East Side is putting dozens of luxury hotel suites up for rent for the first time – with prices ranging from $12,750 per month for a one-bedroom studio to $150,000 for a four-bedroom suite.
The hotel, at 35 East 76th Street, is banking on its prestigious history to market the rental units. The Carlyle has housed everyone from President John F. Kennedy to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to current guests George and Amal Clooney, while Woody Allen still frequently plays the clarinet with his jazz band at the hotel’s Café Carlyle.
Warburg Realty is exclusively marketing the rentals, which include a 2,600-square-foot duplex known as the Empire Suite. The apartment was custom-designed by interior designer Thierry Despont and was once owned by J. Crew CEO Mickey Drexler, according to the New York Daily News. The Carlyle is not disclosing the Empire Suite’s monthly rate.
The hotel joins the likes of the Pierre and the New York Palace, both of which now lease their larger suites for up to $500,000 a month. [NYDN] – Rey Mashayekhi
